Verna W. Young

YORK Verna W. Young, 88, died Friday, May 1, 2009 at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Robert L. Young, Sr. Born February 3, 1921, in Lower Windsor Township, she was the daughter of the late Henry Charles Wilhelm and the late Maggie J. (Herman) Wilhelm Bowers. Mrs. Young was a homemaker. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #360, the York Gethsemane #20 and the York Hospital Auxiliary. She is survived by three sons, Don H. Young and his wife Tonya of Dallastown, Michael L. Young and his wife Jodi Schmitt of Virginia and Carl E. Young and his wife Bonnie of York; three grandchildren, Joseph R. and Misty D. Young and Andrea L. Gast; four step grandchildren, Justin C. Ranieri, Lydia T. Nguyen, Tyler R. Ranieri and John D. Nguyen; and two greatgrandchildren, Carter D. Young and Ashley R. Gast. She was preceded in death by a stepson, Robert L. Young, Jr. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, at 11 a.m. at the Etzweiler Funeral Home, 1111 East Market Street, York with viewings held on Wednesday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., both at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery.
