My sincerest condoleances to family. I met Vern while playing for the Thunderbirds soccer team (North Shore Coaches League). He was a great team mate and an even better guy of the field. We would often go the Eighties for lunch after a game. I will miss him but I will not forget him.

Our condolences to Vern's family. We met him at Norgate Elementary when our children attended. He was always so welcoming to them and offered some good advice along with some gentle teasing (and perhaps the occasional prank as they got older) We hope good memories of him help support his loved ones at this time. It is with a heavy heart to hear the news of Vern's passing. I had the pleasure to play against Vern in Sr. B lacrosse in the late 70's. I had the best time playing on the same team with Vern in Australia at the Worlds Masters in Perth in 2002. In Vern's later years, it was always enjoyable to referee Vern in the Masters division.
Vern was always a gentleman both on and off the floor and well respected by all team players and referees. He will not be forgotten.
On behalf of myself and the officials lacrosse association, my most sincere condolences to the family.
The service was excellent. Well done to everyone involved.

My heart hurts at the loss of such a wonderful person. Always had a kind and encouraging word, from the early days at Norgate in the 80's to as recently as a couple months ago when I last saw him. You were an integral part of so many people's lives, we are all so much better for having known you. RIP Vern.

It was a shock to read of Vern's passing today, as I had just seen him recently at the Joe Mathias Centre during a basketball tournament and he had the same energy as when I first met him almost thirty years ago. He was a great guy and I always enjoyed the times that we reffed basketball games together. He had a big heart and never a bad word for anyone. My most sincere condolences to his family.

Vern was a part of the Coquitlam Adanacs lacrosse history. First playing for the Jr. J- Hawks and Jr. Adanacs. His stats proved his abilities. Vern was a well liked caring individual. I'm glad I had the opportunity to know him. RIP "Vernie" My condolences to the family. Shannon Gallagher Dalzell

So sorry to hear of Vern's passing. Had the privilege of meeting him when I played a season for the Sr.B North Shore Indians and ran into him many times when reffing games. Vern always had a big smile and a friendly greeting. Truly a loss for his family, the community and the whole lacrosse fraternity.
