Vernon Kendall Scott Sr.

Vernon Kendall Scott, Sr. age 65 was born on August 18, 1957, to Isiah and Bessie Scott Gary, Indiana. He passed away on September 21, 2022. Vernon accepted Christ in his life and was baptized. He attended Drew Elementary, Pulaski Junior High and Emerson High School. Vernon "Big Vern" as he was called by many was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a skilled electrician, taught by his father. He was a former employer with the Gary Housing Authority. He was preceded in death by daughter Baby Martica Scott, his parents Isiah and Bessie Scott, Maternal grandparents Arthur and Maggie Hicks, paternal grandparents Elliott and Louella and Bertha Scott, sister Irene Scott Robinson, brother Elliott Scott, brothers-in-law Romas Goudeaux, Curtis Robinson, Johnnie Rivera, and Nelson Epps. Vernon is survived by two sons Vernon Kendall (Chandler) Scott Jr. and Isiah Ozar Dupree Scott; former wife Donna Scott; grandchildren Micah Anthony & Maliya Anthony, Miyana Scott & Ava Scott, Josiah Scott. all of Indianapolis, IN; six sisters Elizabeth Goudeaux, Louella (Willie) Euarl, Patricia Rivera of Merrillville, IN, Loretta Scott (Percy) and Barbara Epps of Gary, IN and Rosetta Scott of Saginaw, MI; one brother Darrell Scott of Gary, IN; five aunts Mildred (Robert) Gates, Marzella Hicks, Cynthia Hicks Calhoun, Carol Hicks all of Gary, IN and Annie Burns Hicks of Indianapolis, IN; one uncle Pharoah Hicks Sr. of Lafayette, IN; one great aunt Vera Mahone of Union Spring, AL and a host of nieces, nephews. cousins, other relatives and friends. Visitation, Friday October 7, 2022, from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. with family hour from 10:00 a.m.- 11:00 with funeral services to follow at 11:00 a.m. all services at the Guy & Allen Chapel 2959 West 11th Avenue. Pastor Charles E. Adams Jr. Officiating. Interment Fern Oaks Cemetery.
