Veva Aleene Pittman

Veva Aleene Pittman, age 92, of Hot Springs, died Thursday, October 27, 2011 at home. Veva was born on July 2, 1919 in Garland County. She was the daughter of Walter Louis Pittman and Francis Bell Baldwin Pittman. Veva was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ras Pittman and Paul Pittman; and three sisters, Lilly Terry, Rhea Pittman and Fay Pittman. Veva accepted the Lord as her Savior at an early age at the First Pentecostal Church on 222 West Grand Avenue. She was a witness for her Lord all of her life and all those that knew her were blessed. Aunt Veva retired early to care for her parents until they were taken to be with their Lord. She was a wonderful friend to her sister, Fay, through all her years. She is survived by her loving nephews, Ras (Esther) Pittman, Nelson Pittman, Sidney (Marsha) Pittman and Phillip (Barb) Pittman; her nieces, Harriett Seals, Linda Pascoe and Gail (Larry) Huebel; many great nieces and nephews; and numerous friends that loved her. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, October 31, 2011 in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Hot Springs with Phillip Pittman and Nathan Pittman officiating. Interment will be in Joplin Cemetery near Mount Ida. Visitation will be Sunday, 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at the funeral home chapel. Pallbearers will be Monte Pascoe, Cai Pascoe, Mark Garrett, Mike Garrett, Jerry Knighten and Robert Waite. Honorary pallbearers will be Ras Pittman, Nelson Pittman, Sidney Pittman, Phillip Pittman and Fred Glidewell. The family would like to send a special thank you to her caregiver, Norma Haigwood.
