Vicki Bailey Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 1, 2025.
Vicki Sue Bailey (née Sheppard), 66, passed away on August 28, 2025, in Eufala, Oklahoma. Born on July 17, 1959, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Vicki lived a life marked by resilience, creativity, and deep devotion to her family and community.

A proud graduate of Western Heights High School in the Class of 1977, Vicki began her professional journey with the Journal Record Publishing Company around 1984. Her time there was notable not only for her exceptional skills-placing third in a National Secretary Day contest while typing an impressive 95 words per minute under distraction-but also for a moment of grace: she regularly walked through the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building each morning between 8:30 and 9:15 a.m., and her loved ones were profoundly grateful she was not there on April 19, 1995.

After relocating to Texas, Vicki found joy in crafting-especially in creating elaborate mums and garters for her daughters and their friends during homecoming season. Her talent quickly earned her a reputation as the local expert. She balanced various roles over the years, including being a stay-at-home mom and taking on odd jobs before securing a position as Senior Proofreader at a law firm in downtown Dallas-a role that showcased her sharp intellect and meticulous attention to detail.

Later in life, after marrying David Bailey, Vicki moved to Sherman, Texas. There, she transitioned into the healthcare field with positions at the Center for Family Medicine and Texoma Foot and Ankle Specialists. Upon retirement, she settled in Eufala, Oklahoma. Never one to remain idle, she joined Nichols Market's bakery team where she formed cherished friendships and continued sharing her warmth with those around her.

Vicki's passions extended beyond work. She was an avid crafter and decorator who poured love into every project. Her brownies were legendary among those lucky enough to taste them. A devoted animal lover and dog rescuer, she opened both her heart and home to countless four-legged companions over the years.

Her strength was perhaps most evident when she faced breast cancer in 1998. With unwavering faith and the support of her family, she overcame that challenge with courage and grace. She fought so hard in her last fight with cancer and we are so grateful for the time we were able to be with her during that fight.

Vicki is survived by her loving husband David Bailey of Eufala, OK; siblings David Sheppard (and wife Carolyn) of Choctaw, OK; Ron Sheppard of Oklahoma City, OK; children Melissa Johnson of Norman, OK; April Caldwell (and husband Jeremy) of Pottsboro, TX; Corinne Farrar of Clifton, NJ; Alison Clements (and husband Nathan) of Fort Worth, TX; Nicholas Bailey (and wife Meghan) of Orlando, FL; grandchildren Racheal,Ethan, Jacob, Emma, Layla, Kevin, Oliver, Lily, Sara, Emma Kay and Presley; nephews Micheal Mengers, Mark Mengers, and Matthew Sheppard.

She was preceded in death by her parents James Sheppard and Alfreda Black Sheppard; and sister Deanna Mengers.

Vicki's legacy lives on through the lives she touched-with kindness baked into every brownie shared and love stitched into every mum crafted. May her memory and infectious laughter bring comfort to all who knew her. A Celebration of Life will be held on September 7, 2025, from 02:30 PM to 04:30 PM at The Farm House, 1316 SW 149th St. A Celebration of Life will be held on September 14, 2025, from 02:00 PM to 04:00 PM at Caldwell Home 252 Frys Lane

Vicki was such a sweet and funny lady. She loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor. Back in high school she always treated me like one of her own kids. I always loved going to their house on Thanksgiving because she made the best broccoli cheese casserole. She will be greatly missed.

I had the privilege of working with this precious lady for many years at the Center for Family Medicine in Sherman. She always had such a sweet smile and compassionate heart. My prayers for her family and friends for God´s peace and comfort.
