Vicki Janell Kilzer (nee Flemmer)
MOTT - Vicki Janell Kilzer (nee Flemmer) died unexpectedly at home on September 22, 2022.
Vicki was a blizzard baby, being born in Hazen on March 6, 1966 to Mavis and Clarence Flemmer during the historic 1966 Blizzard. She was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Hazen.
Vicki started school in Hazen until the family moved to Beulah in 1975. She graduated from Beulah Evanson Jensen High School in 1984. She graduated from Medcenter One School of Nursing in 1987.
Vicki worked as a Registered Nurse in Bismarck before meeting the love of her life, Ray Kilzer. Vicki and Ray were united in marriage on October 1, 1988 in Hazen. They began their life together farming and ranching south of Bentley, ND. They were blessed with the birth of one child, Colby, on May 14, 1993.
Vicki continued her nursing career working at the Hettinger Hospital and at the clinic in Lemmon, SD. She retired from nursing in 1998 when they purchased their family farm in Mott.
Vicki was a devoted wife, mother, daughter and sister. She enjoyed helping with the cattle, especially during calving season. She could also operate any piece of farm equipment and was often out in the fields working alongside her husband. She loved to fish and was an excellent hunter. At a young age she developed a passion for deer hunting, first hunting with her dad and siblings. Later, she spent countless days roaming the land she loved and knew well with Ray, siblings and friends looking for the "big buck". She and Ray hosted many pheasant hunters throughout the years, making lasting friendships.
Vicki was a talented artist and avid reader. She loved to bake and making Christmas candy was her specialty. It was something everyone looked forward to every year.
She had a special way with animals and loved horses, whether it was playing with model horses as a child or riding her beloved Buster.
Vicki was a prankster; she put a lot of thought and details into her pranks. Her quick wit and sense of humor will greatly be missed by all!! Vicki was so many things to so many people that it is impossible to capture with words.
Vicki is survived by her loving Husband of 33 years, Ray, Mott, ND; Son, Colby Kilzer; Mom and Step-dad: Mavis and Harold Hoffman; Sisters: Deb (Mark) Schwab, Darcy (Jeff) Sayler, J.J. (Brent) Veil and Amy (Tom) Murphy; Brother, Wyatt (Karla) Flemmer; Brothers and sisters-in-laws: Mike (Sherryl) Kilzer, Donna (Walter) Braun, Rich (Linda) Kilzer, Paul (Karen) Kilzer, Roger (Sue) Kilzer, Veronica (Dan) Kilzer, Lauretta (Terry) Marigny, Jude Kilzer, Margaret (Allan) Binstock, Fr. James Kilzer, Sharon Kilzer, Marian (Kent) Quamme, Kristine (Stewart) Mehrer; Special cousin Rena Olheiser; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
