Victor was a friend and a fine architect. Although our lives went separate ways, I retained fond memories of working with him on several projects, most memorable of which was the wonderful job he did for Centaur Theatre. My condolences to his wife the equally wonderful Maria.

A true and gentle man. In his quiet way, instrumental to my upbringing. Sorely missed.

Victor Prus was my favorite modernist architect in Québec. He was in the movement, but he also stood outside of it, with his very personal signature. His smaller pavilions and housing projects and his metro stations show his deep understanding of the raw power of materials, his intimate understanding of structure, and his capacity to emphasise either lightness or weight. What a self-assured, brave and intuitive explorer... The real deal.
I can only imagine the loving wealth he must have brought to his close family and friends, and how much he will be missed by them.
My profound sympathy for all those he leaves behind. I hope you can find a little bit of solace in the solid, lasting and joyful work he leaves behind for all the world to experience, for decades and decades to come.

As the current steward of Victor & Maria's Spong/Raleigh Island, the haven they cherished after years of war and turmoil, I thought it appropriate to share a photo here, along with my sincere condolences. Also my appreciation for their having selected me to be its next owner.
