Victor Thomas

THOMAS, Victor (National Research Council - Retired) Peacefully on Monday, November 22, 2010 at the age of 98. Beloved husband of of the late Alma Thomas (nee Zalizniak). Loving father of Dwight (Olivia Nicolaescu) and Sharyl (Douglas Estabrooks). Devoted grandfather to Allison and Marin Thomas, Bryan (Allison Armstrong) and Jonathan Estabrooks and step-grandson Dan Metes. Predeceased by his sister Julia Lander and brother Roy Thomas. Will be dearly remembered by sisters-in-law Lydia Boykowich and Alexandra Semeniuk as well as many nieces and nephews and his cherished friends at the Heron Road Fitness Centre. Graduated with a M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta followed by a Carnegie Grant Research Scholarship. An early career spanning research and management in industry was followed by many years at the National Research Council helping to improve small business operations. He continued to lecture, post retirement, at the University of Ottawa. Many hobbies, many more friends, he loved to bring his joy of life to all he met.
