Victor A. Viti
Ft. Pierce/Summerfield, FL
Mr. Victor A. Viti, age 87, a native of Utica, NY and longtime resident of Ft. Pierce, Florida and most recently of Summerfield, Florida, passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, January 27, 2013, with his loving family by his side. Born in Utica on June 8, 1925, Victor was the son of the late Luigi and Anna (Pietromartire) Viti. Raised and educated locally, he attended T.R. Proctor High School. A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Victor honorably served his country during World War II. On Oct 13, 1945 he wed the former Dorothy M. Nole with whom he shared an inseparable devotion during their 67 years of marriage. Victor was a great problem solver and effectively implemented effective organizational changes throughout his working career. He began his career at Mohawk Containers Company where he carried out a vast number of responsibilities. Thereafter he joined McDonalds Corporation where he became the Manager of the New Hartford location. He later rose to the position of District Manager serving central New York and subsequently, Coral Springs, Florida. Whether at work or at home, Victor radiated a vibrant persona and he was blessed with a passionate joy of life and a generosity of spirit that made him appear at times larger than life. . He had an animated presence and when he interacted with people he often brought laughter and uplifted spirits. His special accomplishments in life were raising his family of whom he was so proud, and garnering the respect and honor that his children reciprocated to him. His day was complete if he could make others laugh, or provide a helping hand. Among his interests and hobbies he enjoyed bowling, playing in a kazoo band, and performing in variety shows in neighboring retirement communities in Florida. He delighted at a good round of golf, especially with his beloved wife Dorothy. Vic was a faith-filled person and he and Dorothy were very involved in their parish life in Florida. Victor is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy; his daughters, Barbara Reardon, of Binghamton, NY, and Dottie Viti, of Charlotte, NC; his sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Henrietta Viti of Summerfield, FL and Victor and Barbara Viti of Windsor, CA. He often remembered his son-in-law, David Yacobelli, who preceded him in death. He also leaves a legacy of love to his adored grandchildren, Dana (Albert) Palermo, David Yacobelli; and Natasha Viti; and his cherished great-grandchildren, Morgan, Marissa, and Evan. In addition, he leaves his sisters, Yolanda Benedetto, of Utica, NY, and Carmella and Anthony Rosato, of Whitesboro, NY and brother-in-law Carmen Famolaro, of Utica, NY; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and the many wonderful and endearing friends he made through-out his life. He was predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Antoinette and Daniel Ciaola; his brother and sister-in-law, Guy L. Sr. and Rosalind Viti; and his brother-in-law Leonard Benedetto and sister-in-law Josephine Famolaro. What a beautiful Love Story --Dottie and Vic Viti. It was a match made in Heaven, the place where now Vic has taken residence. What a stand-up person, what a great friend.
