I met Vincent Drago in Rome, just at the point when he was preparing to move back to the USA. It turns out we'd been neighbors in Trastevere for years, but had never met until I read his book about Rome and made an effort to locate him. What a shame-- I could have enjoyed his company for years, but instead had just a passing moment. RIP.

Mr. Drago was my Latin teacher from 1967 - 1969 at De La Salle High School in New Orleans. 12 years ago, I had the pleasure of telling him that he had demonstrated a sincerity of purpose that was unparalleled at any other level of my life's academic experience. May you now Rest in Peace, Domine Drago.

I didn´t know this fine gentleman, but my daddy did-the late Robert "Mac" McJimsey. He always spoke highly of him. May he rest in the peace of Heaven and the loving arms of God eternally.

I was fortunate to be a Latin student of Mr. Drago at De La Salle. His ability to connect the language to history were motivational. The discipline and effort he demanded had a positive impact.

Mr. Drago taught me Latin for three years at St. Andrew´s in Jackson, Miss. I will never forget the way he taught us; I learned so much (sometimes in spite of myself!) As an adult, I had the good fortune of seeing him in Rome, where my own children (then also students at St. Andrew´s, who´d heard my stories of our `Magister´), got to meet the legendary teacher and even watch him in action as he led us through part of Rome, sharing stories and information of the ancient city and culture. It´s one of my favorite memories of all time. Requiescat in pace, Mr. Drago.
