MILFORD - Vincent Anthony Gloria, 76, died on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, in Milford. He was the beloved husband of Carol (Volosin) Gloria.

He was born in Milford June 25, 1936, to the late Anthony Sr., and Grace (Marino) Gloria. He graduated Milford High School where he was captain of the football team in 1954 and an All-State player. He also attended the University of Bridgeport. Vincent was a former owner of Gloria's Garden Center in Milford with his family. He was the proud owner of Vinny's Home and Garden Showplace in Wallingford with a previous location in East Hartford. A Milford citizen all his life, he was a long-time member and very involved in several Milford Associations: Columbus Scholarship Committee, Kiwanis Club, Elks Club, and the Milford High School reunion committee. He loved spending time with his family and helping others. He owned and raced thoroughbred horses, enjoyed traveling with the Italy Group, found contentment in gardening and trips to Foxwoods Casino, and enjoyed watching horse racing and westerns on TV.

Besides his wife of 11 years, he is survived by his children, Gina (Stephen) Micelotta, of Enfield, Lisa (Richard) Farricielli, of Milford, Dawn (Michael) Fanara, of Milford, and Dana (Carmen) Salvo, of Boca Raton, Fla.; his brother, Louis (Margaret) Gloria, of Orange; his cousin, James (Dorothy) Marino; as well as his grandchildren, Casey, Vinny, Jesse, Michael and Melissa; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers, Anthony Gloria and Joseph Gloria.

Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, at the Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 N. Broad St., Milford. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, Nov. 30, at 11 a.m., Christ the Redeemer Church, 325 Oronoque Road, Milford. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Milford. Contributions may be made in his name to Carol Gloria, c/o Smith and Sefcik Funeral Home. To my beloved husband; you are my heart and soul. You will be truly missed. I love you forever. My sincere condolences to the Gloria family and especially to you, Carol. I started as a cashier in 1999 at Vinny's and worked there for over eight years. I loved it. I even was the Talking Pumpkin and Rudolph on a few occasions. Vinny always greeted me with a big smile and a kiss on my cheek. I loved what one person wrote about Vinny being surrounded by flowers in heaven. Vinny had an enormous positive impact on a lot of people's lives. May you rest in peace, Vinny.

Dear Gloria Family, we are very saddened to learn of Vinnie's passing. I've known Vinny since the early 50's when my father serviced his mother and father at their produce market in Milford. I later sold to Vinny when he had his own establishment on Middletown Ave in the 60's. He was always fair and honest and a pleasure to deal with. He will be greatly missed. Vinny and I were high school classmates and friends for life. Although we did not see each other frequently, when we met it was as if time had stood still. He never changed. He loved people and people loved him in return. His passing creates a void in my life that no other person can fill. I will miss him dearly for he brought honesty, thoughtfulness and love to all that entered his life. I loved the guy.

To The Vinny Family: Vinny was certainly an Icon at the store along with the talking Reindeer. I remember being hired at the store part time in 2000 and it was just the greatest, it was like a kid working in a toy factory, I worked in Dept. 56 and Vinny would always make the employees and the customers feel like family, VInny's will never be the same without him. My deepest sympathy to all of you.
