In 1966 I was a new X-Ray Tech in town and Dr. Murphy was one of the first surgeons I worked with. It was in the old part of the Holy Cross. Over the years since I worked with him a lot and he treated (and operated on) me on many occasions. We were always able to stop and talk a while. Such a delightful man.

peace.For putting me back together after
a horrible car accident when I was 15 and
years later for three great knee operations.Also for the years with the Stampeders... a great surgeon

In 1969 our little daughter was not abe to walk, so we made an appt with Dr Murphy. The doctor had her stand and his remark was those are the flatest feet I've ever seen. He presc corrective shoes and away she went. Today this little girl is in Vancouver receiving a fellowship from the Canadian College Of Family Physicians. She graduated from UofA as Dr Vesta Michelle Warren. We have always been very thankful to Dr Murphy and very kind man. Our sincere thanks and symphaties. He was a wonderful man. I am one of the nurses who worked with Dr. Murphy in the OR at the Holy Cross. He was always kind both to patients and staff and always in a good mood. I heard him recount the stories from the war and always honored him for his service.
I met him once years after his retirement (and mine) at Southland Park, walking his dog. It was a sunny day but there were huge storm clouds coming. Dr. Murphy didn't recognize me as a nurse he had worked with, so we talked about lots of other things that interested us both. Finally I said that we had better hurry back to our cars as we would be rained on. He said he would just keep walking and said (not knowing that I knew who he was) "thank you for stopping to talk to me." I left with a feeling of sadness that he must be really quite lonely at this time. Mary Skarzynski
