Vincent Sassano Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 23, 2025.
Beloved Father, Grandfather, and Faithful Servant

With profound sadness and abiding faith in the promise of eternal life, we announce the passing of Vincent Louis Sassano, who departed this world peacefully on Friday, September 19th, surrounded by his loving family. Guided by his Catholic faith throughout his life, Vincent now finds everlasting rest, joyfully reunited with his beloved wife, Nancy, in heaven.

Born in 1936 as Louis Vincent Sassano, he later chose to reverse his names and became known simply as Vince. He and Nancy were both graduates of Bloom Township High School, though their love story began later at Thornton Community College. Shortly after marrying in 1959, Vince was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving honorably at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and discharged as a corporal. Following his military service, Vince explored various career paths before discovering his passion for finance. He began at Liberty Savings and Loan and later became a loan officer at First National Bank of Highland Park, where he spent the majority of his professional life. In pursuit of opportunity and community, he relocated his growing family from Chicago Heights to Highland Park-transforming the south-siders into proud north-south-siders.

Vince's passions were many: golf, bowling, and above all, pasta-a tribute to his Polish-Italian heritage. But nothing surpassed his devotion to family and faith.

Vincent is lovingly remembered by his sister, Darlene Molyneaux, and her husband Bert. He leaves behind his children:

- Stephanie Toral and her husband Mark

- Vincent Sassano

- Philip Sassano and his wife Julie

- Christopher Sassano and his wife Caroline

- Daniel Sassano and his wife Nicole

He was a proud grandfather to Marcus, Keller, and Caroline Toral; Griffin and Payton Sassano; Luke, Mia, and Zoe Sassano; and Cameron and Carter Sassano. Time spent with his grandchildren brought him immeasurable joy.

Forever grateful to have him as my grandfather. A guiding pillar in my life, reiterating the importance of choosing what makes us happy & to always rely on faith & family. What an honor it is to be his granddaughter. Rest easy with Nana, gramps.
