Viola was born in Guthrie Co IA to Charlie and Annie Mortensen 1/14/1918, died in Delta CO 1/14/2015. She married James Michael Fitzgerald 8/2/1941, and they later settled near Adel. She is survived by children Virginia (Richard) Johnson of Delta, CO, Robert (Genevieve) Fitzgerald of Natalia, TX, Janis Fitzgerald of Des Moines, IA, Ann Marie (Stanley) Van Veen of Indianola, IA, and daughter-in-law Paula Fitzgerald of Marion, TX. She is also survived by grandchildren TJ Van Veen of Des Moines, Mark Fitzgerald and Julie Marin of Marion TX, and great-grandchildren Christian, Jeronimo, and Victoria. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Elvin and Raymond, sister Alice Christensen, children Karin Sue and John Stephen, and grandchildren Michael Eugene Johnson, Michael Paul Fitzgerald, Tina Marie Fitzgerald, and Jeffrey John Fitzgerald . Viola enjoyed flower gardening and sewing. The family will say goodbye privately, scattering her ashes in her daughter's flower garden, with Jim.
