Viola WESSNER Obituary

Published by Regina Leader-Post on Nov. 29, 2017.
WESSNER, Viola
Viola S. Wessner loved and cherished by all who knew her, passed away in the early hours of November 26, 2017 at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital after a lengthy illness. Viola was born March 8, 1927 in Main Centre, Saskatchewan to Frank and Anna Cornelson. On July 6, 1947, she married Harvey Wessner, and together they made a home in Regina, Saskatchewan, where they raised a family, shared a life in the church and with the Gideon Association. They travelled together, experienced life on the farm in their later years, and loved their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mom was predeceased by her first husband, Harvey Wessner and an infant son, to whom she recently gave the name Michael Wessner. Viola leaves behind George Borger (companion and husband in later years), children Mervina (Joe) Repetski, Ronald (Betty) Wessner, Marcel (Gloria) Wessner, and Jeanette (Norm) Amundson, ten grandchildren, and twenty three great- grandchildren, one sister, four brothers and their families. Her family is grateful for the years of community she experienced at Chinook Village, and for the end of life care she received in 2 North of the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. Knowing her spirit soars to sights unknown, Viola's body was laid to rest in a private service at Hillside Cemetery with her daughter, Pastor Jeanette Amundson officiating. "For we do not grieve as those who have no hope, since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and even so God will bring with him those who have died." (1 Thess. 4.13,14). Those who wish to remember Viola with a donation may direct it to Gideons International in Canada c/o 177- 1415 28 St. SE, Medicine Hat, AB T1A 8P9. You always welcomed me as a daughter even before I was married into your family; no wonder why I called you 'Mom' from that time on! Thank you for your unconditional love. Forever loving you♡, Gloria

Our deepest condolences to your family as you say goodbye to your Mom. She had so many interesting stories to share about her early years as a child, as well as her later years as a wife, mother and homemaker. We know that this charming woman with such an infectious smile will be missed dearly.
