Mrs. Violet James

Mrs. Violet James, 88, of N. Main Street, Waterbury, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2020, at St. Mary's Hospital. She was the widow of Kenneth James, Sr. Mrs. James was born May 27, 1932 in Waterbury, CT, a daughter to the late Louis and Margaret (Greene) Ridenhour. "Sis" as she was affectionally known, was educated in the Waterbury Public School System graduating from Wilby High School. She was employed by Uniroyal Footwear Company and The Box Company for many years. Violet was a longtime faithful member of Mt. Olive A.M.E. Zion Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed listening to gospel music and watching Judge Judy. Mrs. James loved to cook and enjoyed being the hostess for every holiday. She was a woman of few words but meant what she meant. Spending time with her family, especially her grands and great grandchildren, was what she enjoyed most. Her kind heart and gentle spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She leaves to cherish her memories four sons; Gerald Ridenhour and Gary Hadley both of Waterbury, Keith (Daisy) Trotman of Ahoskie, NC, and Kenneth (Vivian) James Jr. of Las Vegas, NV, three daughters; Shawn Hadley, Tonya Hadley, and Paula (Charles) Jones all of Waterbury, daughter in-law; Karen A. Hadley of Waterbury, sister in-law; Bermer Ridenhour of Columbia, SC, 14 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. She was predeceased by two son's Gregory Hadley Sr. and Christian A. Hadley, three brothers; Louis, Thomas, and Amos Ridenhour.
