Violet Marigold Topper Best Obituary

Violet Marigold Topper Best, died peacefully in her sleep at the age of 76. Violet, an avid gardener, loved growing flowers and vegetables. She enjoyed long hikes in nature with her poodle Levon, especially at Lake Isabel. Violet was also loved painting, especially watercolors. Violet was a strong woman and full of personality.

Violet is survived by her son Jimi Best, his wife Amii and daughter Ava, her brother Anthony Topper Jr, sister Helen Horne, brother Patrick Topper, sister Michele Kirk, and sister Suzette Topper, many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friend Mike Steele.

Violet was proceeded in death by her father Anthony Topper Sr and mother Rita Topper, her two sisters Mary Rita Topper and Paula Gast.

Violet was born in Hanover PA, the 2nd oldest of eight children. She attended Kenwood Sr High and graduated in 1966. She achieved a Bachelor of Arts from Seton Hill College in Greensburg PA on May 10th 1970. She received her Master of Science at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. Her major was in plant genetics.

Violet will be cremated, and her wishes are that her ashes be spread in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains near Crestone CO where she lived and loved life for 8 years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to San Isabel National Forest or plant a tree in honor of Violet. A celebration of life is planned on a beautiful day in June of 2025

Incredibly sad to stumble over this obituary of Vi. What a wonderfully intelligent and talented person. Her sewing machine was named Dynamo Hum - from which she crafted clothing from fabrics she had treated and dyed and made into fabulous patterns. Knew her from Colorado in the 70's. What a tremendous loss. My deepest condolences to family and friends.
