VIRGIE M. THOMAS

Virgie M. Thomas GLADE SPRING, Va. Virgie M. Thomas, age 70, passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at John ston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, Va. She was a lifelong resident of Washington Co., Va., and was the daughter of the late Marion and Hazel Reed. She was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kermit W. Thomas Sr. She is survived by one son, Kermit W. Thomas Jr. and his wife, Patsy, of Abingdon; five daughters, Patsy Green and her husband, Steve, of Marion, Va., Rachel Thomas of Meadowview, Va., Sue Thomas of Glade Spring, Pauline Mullins and her husband, Roy, of Meadowview, and Angel Thomas of Bluff City, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Susie Thomas, Marion Thomas, Martin Thomas, Chris Thomas, James Thomas, Jessie Thomas, and Kim Green; one great grandson, Joshua Thomas; three sisters, Cordelia Reynolds, Lula Arnold, and Vivian Canter; three brothers, Isaac Reed, Junior Reed, and Robert Reed; a special friend, Fred Thomas; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, May 25, 2012, in the Riverview Chapel at Garrett Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Baumgardner officiating. The committal service and interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Glade Spring. Pallbearers will be Fred Thomas, Chris Thomas, Marion Thomas, James Thomas, Bobby Morrison, Martin Thomas, Greg Reno, and Chris Cornett. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Green, Roy Mullins, Harold Rash, Freddie Flores, Jay Arnold, and Joshua Thomas. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Garrett Funeral Home.
