Virgil Holland Obituary
Virgil was born in St. Joseph on May 16, 1924, to Walter and Opal (McBeth) Holland.
He was a veteran of World War II. He retired from Swift and Company after 25 years of service and from Holland Construction after 30 years of service.
Virgil was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Francis Holland; sister, Marion Walker; and daughters, Patricia Ann Chase and Wanda Y. Holland.
Virgil was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral. He enjoyed buying and selling antiques.
He married Edna Mae Holland on Aug. 1, 1946, in San Antonio, Texas. She survives of the home.
He is also survived by sons Virgil M. Holland Jr., and wife Shirley, St. Joseph, Gary Lee Holland, Moberly, Mo., and Gary E. Holland, St. Joseph; daughter Linda Stewart and husband Melvin, St. Joseph; three grandchildren, Virgil P. Holland, Jeremy Holland and Brad Chase; three great-grandchildren, Sheri Bush, Virgil F. Holland and Teresa Holland; three great-great-grandchildren, Hayley, Gauge and Malaigha; and one brother, Charles Holland, of Colorado.
Prayer Service: 1 p.m. Monday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, St. Joseph. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery, St. Joseph. Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. Sunday at the Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday evening.
The family suggests memorials to Missouri Veterans Home in Cameron.
