Virgil A. Richard

Virg will be missed. He was a friend and colleague for many years. Bon chance, Virgil.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire family. As a young USAFAC finance soldier in the mid 1980s, I served as his backup driver, and drove him to and from the Indianapolis airport many times after picking him up at his quarters for trips to Wash DC. I always found him to be a pleasant person and it was always a pleasure to drive and converse with him.

Reading the obituary, listening to a friend share a story regarding his experience in serving with the Brigadier General and seeing the loving support that surrounded David & family, was beautiful demonstration of what a well respected and special person Virgil was. Hoping many happy memories bring you all comfort.

General Richard was a great American and I am fortunate to have the opportunity to have been part of his family. He will be greatly missed by a family and nation that needs him. Rest in peace, sir.

Virgil was a good man who cared about other people. I enjoyed his good humor and fellowship. He will be greatly missed.

We were cousins and childhood playmates as well as being the same age. I'm going to miss his newsy Christmas letters. My sympathy to David and Virgil's sister, Barbara.

My sincerest condolences to all of Virgil's vast circle of friends and family, especially to my friend, David. Reading Virgil's obituary is a remarkable testimony to the wildly unselfish life he lived.

Virgil was an exceptional man of honor and courage that never shied away from doing what was right. I spent many years getting to know him through Austin Gay and Lesbian International Film Festival. He had a quick wit and a warm heart. He will be sorely missed.
