(Tarie Sloan)

I know the God of time who is yet above time. I saw yesterday in my grandmothers face the strange paradox of time and timeliness.
I caught a rare glimpse of the divine. As spoken in the bible, in

Psalms 128 Verse 3

Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house.

Grandma was always full of love, smiles, and always welcoming to anyone whom came to the door. She was never filled with anguish, disgust, or hatred. She was compassionate, caring and always giving. Grandma helped develop or imaginations from a very young age, one particular time I remember. It was a beautiful sunny day and grandma pulled out all of the rain coats, boots, and umbrellas she could find. She went into the back yard and hooked up the sprinkler. Oh the joy that filled my heart, the laughter that ran through my young mind.

From my vantage point, Grandma looked at circumstances and situations involving her children throughout her life with disbelief and amazement as God brought order out of chaos and light out of darkness.
Grandma looks from heaven above to see each of us struggle to find peace in our hearts.

Yesterday when I was reading the bible looking for answers, this verse from

2 Corinthians 1
Verse 9

Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but God who raises the dead.

The particular verse I must have read about 50 times!

Grandma Chailante’s battles here on earth may be lost but God’s will is done. I thank God for not letting Grandma suffer for a long and painful death.

Time is an interesting term. All time is borrowed time. God made us in his image and blessed us. He is our father. He is sharing his time with the earthly families he has blessed us with. I thank God for allowing us the precious time he blessed us all with Grandma Chailante.

Grandma Chailante looks from heaven above on her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, each one uniquely loved, each as dear as the other, each her most treasured possession, she wants to fill us all with peace in our hearts. She is with our father, our creator, our savior. This is a time when we all need to have compassion and comfort for one another.

2 Corinthians 1
Verse 3-4

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort that we ourselves have received from God.

Grandma Chailante will always be remembered as a wonderful, devoted, loyal wife, a compassionate, loving, adoring mother; a joyous, amazing, brilliant, fantastic grandma; and an immense, breathtaking, and awe-inspiring great grandma.

May peace and love fill each and everyone of our hearts today as we remember our beloved Grandma Chailante!
