Tucson - Virginia Ann Gray (GeeGee), 75, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home, on August 8, 2025, Tucson, Arizona. Born on April 23rd, 1950, in Deming, New Mexico, to Joseph W. Chester and Virginia Louise Chester Lange (Simms). A lifetime educator, Virginia followed in the footsteps of her mother, devoting her career to inspiring and guiding students. She was a committed and loyal volunteer at La Pilita Educational Center, where she shared her love for history, art, and cultural preservation. Her deep affection for the Southwest and the Sonoran Desert was evident in the way she spoke of its history, landscape, and traditions.Virginia's dedication extended beyond her profession, she was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She gave generously of her time, compassion, and wisdom to her family, her friends, and all whose lives she touched. Preceded in death by her parents, sister Barbara L. Tulk, and other beloved family members. Survived by husband, Michael F. Gray; son Joseph M.(Alex L.) Gray; daughter Jennifer A.(Juan M.) Lerma; grandchildren, Trinity E. Gray, Basil E. Gray, and Wilder C. Gray; sisters Linda J. (Robert L.) Donaldson and Marilyn C. Massino. Remembrance service Saturday, August 16, 2025, 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. First Brethren Church, 201 N Columbus Blvd, Tucson, AZ. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Virginia's legacy by supporting educational or cultural programs in your community.
