Virginia Isaacs McLeod Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 20, 2024.

Virginia "Jenny" Isaacs McLeod, 80, of Concord, Massachusetts, passed away on March 9, 2024. Jenny was born on July 20, 1943, in Frankfort, KY, to Josephine Woodall Isaacs and Jerome Johnson Isaacs.

Possessing an unquenchable sense of curiosity, Jenny was a true Renaissance woman. In addition to being a lifelong learner, she was multitalented, playing piano, writing poetry, and creating garden spaces. She even learned how to build a house from the ground up. Combining her innate aesthetic sense and imagination, she created lovely and welcoming spaces wherever she lived, in subtle and unique ways. She was an incredible cook and hostess.

Her compassion for humankind called her to work as an educator, Waldorf school teacher, and care provider. She served as a laywoman in the Episcopal church for many years. Desiring to leave the world just a bit better than she found it, Jenny was a dedicated naturalist and vegetarian. She was an intrepid traveler, having lived in Kentucky, Florida, Maine, Scotland, California, Washington, and Massachusetts. Jenny lived and loved deeply, experiencing heartfelt vulnerability as well as great joy.

Jenny earned her Bachelor of Arts from Smith College as an Ada Comstock Scholar and her Master of Divinity from General Theological Seminary. For many years, she was actively involved in the Junior League of Louisville and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Jenny is survived by her children Molly (Alexander) of Goshen, Kentucky, Alec (Mary) of Providence, Rhode Island, and Angus (Dianne) of Nantucket, Massachusetts, as well as her grandchildren Allister, Lyman, and Grafton Brackett. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Jerome Johnson Isaacs. Jenny will be remembered for her love of home and family, and for living life on her own terms, authentically and with integrity. She will be deeply missed.
