Virginia Johnson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 23, 2025.
Virginia Louise Johnson (née Bodam), age 80, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025, in Elk Grove, Illinois.

Born on June 11, 1944, in Lakin, Kansas, Virginia was the beloved daughter of Athena and Willard Bodam. Throughout her life, she embodied warmth, dedication, and a nurturing spirit that touched all who knew her.

Virginia shared a devoted marriage with her husband, Harvey L. Johnson. Their bond was one of mutual care and unwavering support. She worked tirelessly to ensure his well-being and comfort, always attentive to his needs with love and grace.

As a mother to Michelle Polianskis and Kenneth Johnson, Virginia poured her heart into raising her children with compassion and strength. Her pride in their lives was matched only by the joy she found in being a grandmother to Chaz Mustard, Kristina Polianskis, Natasha Polianskis, and Samantha Johnson. Her legacy continued through her great-grandchildren Daxx Mustard and Reid Mustard, whose presence brought her immense happiness.

Virginia had a special gift for making things grow-her green thumb kept plants blooming year-round. Gardening was more than a hobby; it was an extension of her nurturing soul. She also enjoyed the quiet satisfaction of puzzles and the immersive world of audiobooks.

Her home was filled with laughter and kindness. Neighbors and friends cherished Virginia not only for her friendliness but for the genuine smile she offered so freely. She created a welcoming space where others felt seen and valued.

Virginia's memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her-her family, friends, neighbors, and all who were fortunate enough to know her gentle spirit.

May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her.

GRANDMA, I don't even have the words. You are truly loved and the most wonderful, when I met your grandson 12 years ago, I never thought I'd be accepted nearly as much as I was. I've thought hard about what I wanted to put into words and still I have so much. Thank you for accepting me and loving me and my kids whole heartedly. WE all know you and mom bought the best gifts for the kids. We miss you. Guess I'll have to dye my hair a new crazy color so I can hear you say from heaven, what color next?
