Virginia Zubiate Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 3, 2024.
Oxnard - Virginia Medina Zubiate 92, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2024 at home with her daughter Martha and granddaughter Sigourney by her bedside. Born in Oxnard on September 4, 1932, she was one of five children born to Mariano and Jessie Medina.

Our mother's faith sustained her throughout her life and was a constant and unwavering comfort. She took great pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was an avid gardener and took joy in spending time caring and tending to her plants. She was an expert at crocheting and many of her family have lasting keepsakes that she made for them with love and care. A talent she passed to her daughter Martha.

She is survived by her sister Mary Garcia; sons Phillip (Kelly), Frank, and Adam (Julie); and daughter Martha. She was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren and was an honorary grandma to many others who came into her life. She was a loving aunt to Gina Lucio, Morey Lopez, Andy Medina Jr.; and many more nieces and nephews. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Phillip Zubiate Jr.; her parents; sisters, Florence Lopez, and Emily Palomares; brother Andy Medina Sr; and grandson Jefferey Zubiate.

The family would like to thank the staff at Angel of God Hospice for their compassionate and excellent care of our mother.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 11, at Reardon Funeral Home, 511 North A Street, Oxnard. Interment will follow at Santa Clara Cemetery, Oxnard.
