Vivian LeBlanc LaChance
POCATELLO - Vivian LeBlanc LaChance passed away on December 9, 2009, at the age of 92.
Vivian was born on October 23, 1917, in Gentilly, Minnesota, as the oldest of four to a pioneer family. Both her mother, Emma Caouette, and her father, Delphis LeBlanc, had deep roots in Minnesota and Quebec. She was descended from Daniel LeBlanc who came to Acadia in 1650 from France. She was always proud of those roots. As a child she spoke French around the house.
Vivian married Harry LaChance on August 5, 1940, in Gentilly, Minnesota.  They resided in Red Lake Falls, Crookston and Minneapolis, Minnesota, before moving to Pocatello in 1949. Their five oldest children were born in Minnesota and their four youngest children were born in Pocatello. Vivian and Harry celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on August 5, 1990. Harry passed away on November 8, 1991.
Vivian was a stay at home mom, taking care of the children. She was very proud of her children and of their accomplishments in life. She was also active in her church.
Surviving are their nine children, Father Roger LaChance, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Karen (Bill) Hartford, Medway, Massachusetts, Byron, Salem, Oregon, Loren (Etta), Star, Idaho, Sandra (Paul) Curtis, Pocatello, Spencer (Cindy), Boise, Idaho, Craig, Boise, Idaho, Jennifer, Pocatello, Jeff, Albuquerque, New Mexico. There are 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Vivian's sister, Claudia (Jim) Knox; her brother, Gerald (Marilyn) LeBlanc; brother-in-law, Armand (Elaine) LaChance and many nieces and nephews also survive her. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother, Vernon.
The family would like to thank the staff of Quail Ridge Assisted Care for the fine care of Vivian this past year.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, December 14, 2009, at 11 a.m. in the Holy Spirit Catholic Community, St. Anthony Chapel, 504 N. Seventh Ave., Pocatello, (please use a side entrance as the front steps are under construction). A vigil will be held Sunday evening at 7 p.m. in the St. Anthony Chapel, where the family will receive friends until 9 p.m.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave., Pocatello. Online guest book and condolences available at www.cornelisonfh.com.

I am very sorry to read of the passing of your mother. I remember her as our neighbor on Birch Street and busy mom of my friends. Now I'm living in Minnesota and often remember your family being originally from this area. She leaves behind a very proud family, I'm sure.

My sympathy to my cousins on their loss of their mother, Vivian. I will always remember the trips that my folks and I took to Idaho! Aunt Vivian always made us feel at home.
My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
Love, Janelle
