Vivian Portwood Lear, 77, Bronston, Ky., formerly of Richmond, passed away early Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Ky.A native of Madison County, she was the daughter of the late Lee and Nannie Foster Portwood. She was a graduate of the cosmetology profession and was owner of a beauty salon for twenty years in Richmond. In later years, she was a dog breeder in Somerset, Ky., specializing in the Yorkshire Terrier breed.Mrs. Lear was the widow of Elmer Lear and was also preceded in death by a brother, Donald Kenneth Portwood. She is survived by one daughter, Agnes Lear (and Bruce) Farley, Georgia; one stepson, Carl Lear, Tennessee; one granddaughter, Heather Farley, Minnesota; one brother, Ronnie Portwood; and six sisters, Aileen Leese, Janice Day, Dorothy Wilson, Roberta Bolton, Gladys Portwood and Joyce Hayden, as well as several nephews and nieces.Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Oldham, Roberts and Powell Funeral Home.Burial will follow a the Richmond Cemetery.Pallbearers will be Charlie Wilson, Scott Farley, Gary Farley, Bruce A. Farley, Roger Farley, Emory Day and Carl Lear.Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Oldham, Roberts and Powell Funeral Home.To express condolences visit our website at www.orpfh.com.
