We still miss Vlad so much, personally and professionally. He was truly an exceptional human being. I was listening to a talk a couple days ago on the glutamate system in the brain. The speaker said a lot of the information was based on Vlad's research. Sure wish he was here to tell us about it. The contributions he made to the field of psychiatry will be a lasting legacy. We will remember him on his birthday.

Dr. Maletic was a one-of-a-kind human with boundless knowledge, a dry and witty sense of humor, and a huge heart. It was my pleasure to work with him for a short time. He will be dearly missed. Rest well, Vlad.

What a brilliant and caring man. I worked with him for several years as his MSL. He taught me so much about neurobiology but also about life. Vlad remained humble, kind and generous in the midst of his many accomplishments and accolades. He will be missed

While Vlad is well known for his lecturing and teaching it is his warm heart, generous nature and thirst for new ways of looking at the people and world around him that stand out to me. Teddy Roosevelt is credited for saying, "People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care." No wonder Vlad was so successful in helping others because he truly cared. He was a remarkable individual and I am glad that he touched my heart over the years putting together educational opportunities that caused clinicians to critically think about how they approach patient care. We may miss him but his impression will forever remain part of our lives.

We had the pleasure of knowing Vlad for over 30 years. Our sons met in school when they were 4 years old and have been fast friends ever since. We were so fortunate to have Vlad as a member of our community. He was a great mentor. There was literally nothing you could ask him that he didn't know something about, yet he was humble and was able to explain things in terms the rest of us could understand. One favorite memory of mine was when he thanked his dog for letting him know he had to go out; talking to him like he was a person! Vlad was kind to everyone. I will sorely miss being able to ask him questions. In the last presentation he gave before his death, he said he wanted us to think about things in a different way. He was always advancing the science. I would also like to recognize his former wife Marjorie. Together they raised an amazing son, who we will continue to support. Vlad is gone too soon but maybe he was just too good for this world. Rest in peace my friend. You will never be forgotten.

Though I didn´t know Dr. Maletic personally, I can say that I had a profound respect for him. I had the pleasure of hearing him speak many times at several different conferences. His brilliance was always apparent. He also had a kindness about him, or so it seemed. A gentle giant of sorts I suppose. I also remember his fondness of turtleneck shirts, a garment style that has sort of left the main stage of fashion but nonetheless, Dr. Maletic could rock them with style. He will be missed by many and may his spirit live on through his writings and memories shared by those who knew and loved him. Maybe I will buy a turtleneck in his honor. Rest easy, Dr. Maletic

I am a long time patient of Dr. Maletic and he is one of the few people that knew and understood my "road warrior" status as a very frequent flier. We would often run into each other at GSP while catching a flight and would joke that our appointments could coincide with our travel. My life now is so splendid and I owe so much of that to Dr. Maletic. He always took the time to explain things in detail and his warmth was unparalleled.
