Voddie Baucham Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Sep. 26 to Sep. 27, 2025.
Voddie Tharon Baucham Jr., a Reformed Baptist pastor, bestselling author, and founding president of Founders Seminary, died Thursday, September 25, 2025, following an emergency medical incident. He was 56. The announcement was made by Founders Ministries.

Born March 11, 1969, in Los Angeles, he became a Christian during college and devoted his life to expository preaching and Christian education.

Baucham pastored churches in Texas, taught widely, and became known for clear, unapologetic biblical teaching. In 2015, he moved with his family to Zambia, where he served as the founding Dean of Theology at African Christian University.

He returned to the United States in 2024 to help establish Founders Seminary in Cape Coral, Florida. When Founders Seminary opened in August 2025, Baucham was introduced as its founding president.

His books include "Family Driven Faith," "Expository Apologetics," and "Fault Lines," which topped Christian bestseller lists after its 2021 release. He wrote and spoke extensively on Scripture's authority, the Christian family, and discipleship.

Baucham's public battle with heart failure in 2021 led to successful quadruple bypass surgery. He often credited prayer and the care of physicians for his recovery.

He is survived by his wife, Bridget, whom he married in 1989, and their nine children: Jasmine, Voddie III ("Trey"), Elijah, Asher, Judah, Micah, Safya, Amos, and Simeon. The family homeschooled their children and ministered together for many years.

I met Voddie and his family through by mom Kathy Knight. She was a long time supporter until her passing. Voddie would often visit her in her retirement home and later skilled nursing. He and his family came to her funeral. I have watched his YouTube sermons and found his to be a very powerful speaker. We will miss his Biblical insight and sermons.
Our love and prayers go out to his family and may they feel the strength of the Lord during the time and find peace knowing Voddie is in the arms of the Lord.

My condolences to your family. Voddie was aware of the need of spiritual knowledge. He also taught others about God. Spirituality was deeply embedded in Voddie´s life, and he knew that our Heavenly Father would not forget the good he did toward others. Voddie knew that serving God and applying his counsel would leave to the best life now as well as everlasting life in the future.
May God bless your family and give you comfort.

Thank You Pastor Voddie Baucham for always speaking the truth of God's word, for the no nonsense deliberation of your messages for courage and boldness of your words in sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. I had the privilege of meeting you a few years ago at a small church in Houston and I am ever so grateful. You are not gone! We will see you again! Until then we will pick up the touch and march on with Gods message. Sending Love and Prayers to your beautiful wife Bridget and your lovely children. When I heard this I was shocked. There are some people on this earth you know automatically are anoited. When I have heard him speak, preach and teach you knew he was anointed and he did not waiver from the word of GOD.

Our sincerest condolences and prayers for peace & comfort to all of Voddie's beautiful family He was a good and faithful servant of the Lord. He never strayed from the truth of God's word within his messages. We, as believers, know that he is not dead, but is risen and welcomed into his eternal home with Jesus Christ our Lord & Savior. He is walking on those celestial shores of Heaven. Praise God!

He was a true lion of Christ. I remember his steadfast commitment to the Scriptures. While other pastors look to compromise God's word...He did not. God called his warrior home. God bless the family....our prayers are with you and our hearts hurt for you. What a treasure of a man he was. God Bless.

He was one of the first and most influential to me when I came to Christ about 4 or 5 years ago. He taught me a lot as I learned the bible. He was an excellent teacher and an excellent example of a man of God. He made me want to be a better woman of God. I am so sorry for his wife. He will be missed. Thank the good Lord he still lives.

I discovered Voddie Baucham at Grace Community Church at the Truth Matters Conference in September 2019. I knew I was maturing as a Christian because I was being exposed to the "meat" of the scripture! Thank you Voddie, my friend. I have learned so much from him and love hearing him teach. We all look so forward to spending eternity with you worshiping our Lord Jesus Christ together. Prayers and condolences to his wife, children and family. A saint has truly gone to be with his Lord!

We met Voddie in Aberdeen, MS at a Highschool gym. He helped us make many family decisions based upon the the Word of God. He was a man of God´s Word which is what we need today more than ever. He spoke truth and always had no fear to speak God´s Word. We still listen to him 13 years later from our handshake and talk. You will be missed but every teaching and preaching will never go away. We will share just as you shared with us. We will cover your family in prayer and we will see you again Brother. To God be All Glory.

Precious memories I have when remembering our powerhouse Patriarch in the faith - Pastor Voddie Baucham. 9-11-2002, he led the message as lead preaching Pastor for the Woodlands "One Voice" worship event at the Pavilion. With prayer and his message from God, we brought 30+ churches together to worship God. People made decisions to believe Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior for salvation. 2003, Kimberley laws were enacted to stop traffickers, stop the slave trade, and bring accountability. His ministry launched internationally, and he helped as lead pastor for the Fifth Ward Pregnancy Help Center and Houston Pregnancy Help Centers. His personal affirmation, exhortation, encouragement, and relentless fervor in the Holy Spirit was a lifeline for me to stay the course. Hero. Patriarch. Known by and personally knew God, our Father. Voice of faith in Jesus Christ to many who were spiritually orphaned. Promise Keeper. Friend.

Peril. Choice. Chose Life. One Voice.

Now known. A turn. A road. To learn.

Someone. Somewhere. One true. Now care.

Awake. Resting. Peace. Everlasting.

My most sincere condolences to the Baucham family. Your husband and father has made such an impact on the body of Christ and the building of His kingdom with his obedience to God in truth filled, bold and unapologetic delivery of the Gospel of Christ. The news of Pastor Voddie´s passing is both heartbreaking and joyful.
Heartbreaking because of an earthly loss of a beloved brother in Christ Jesus...
but joy at the same time because Pastor Voddie is now in the presence of his Lord and savior.
As he passionately stated,
"You are going to hear a rumor one day that Voddie Baucham no more. Don't you believe it! Because though I die, I will rise with Christ. It will not be the end of me,"
To God be the Glory, the Father of mercy and God of all comfort! Amen.
