My deepest sympathies to Mavis and family. I'm sorry to hear of the passing of Uncle Bill. Not only was he my uncle but he was also my godfather. When I was a little kid I always looked forward to Christmas time because he would have a present for me. I hope that the family will be able to find the strength to overcome this loss.

To Mavis & family and to the Bauer family,
I have known Bill, or rather he knew me all my life. We are descendants of immigrants from Norka Russia and, although I am 25 years younger than Bill, I ,too was able to retain the Norka German dialect, customs and sayings. Whenever I would see Bill, we always greeted each other in our mother tongue and would kibitz in that language as well. I did work for Bill and Carl a short time one winter during Christmas break from the U of A when we built rig leases in very cold conditions. I was well rewarded for the hours I put in and this experience I will not forget. His brother Reuben and I have an ongoing rapport with respect to the Norka people in our area as well as in the US and in Europe.

"Die heimat der sele ist troben im licht" Ruhe im frieden, dien arbeit auf erden ist am ende, Bill.

I don't know Bill but I know Harry and Reuben. I worked with Harry at the School Book Branch and with Reuben on the "Shandro Hisrory book" My sympathy goes to both of you and to the rest of the family.
