W. Thomas Irwin

Ocala - W. Thomas Irwin, 81, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2025, in Ocala, Florida with his wife & son by his side.

Born on November 14, 1943, in Erie, Pennsylvania, Tom was the son of William and Penny Irwin. He graduated from Academy High School in 1962, where he was a standout multi-sport athlete, earning letters in football, baseball, and wrestling.

Following high school, Tom joined the United States Air Force. His military service was marked by dedication and distinction, earning him multiple service and commendation awards. He was honorably discharged as Airman 1st Class in 1969.

After completing his service, Tom embarked on a successful career in banking. He held key positions at Union Bank, Mellon Bank, and Citizens Bank. Through hard work and leadership, he advanced to roles including Branch Manager and Market Service Manager AVP. He retired in 2002 after decades of committed service to his clients and colleagues.

Tom's lifelong love of baseball remained a constant. He was a devoted Cincinnati Reds fan. He played softball for Union Bank and coached the women's softball team-sharing his passion for the game with others.

In retirement, Tom and Carol traveled extensively across the country to play golf. Their shared enthusiasm led them to courses from Florida to Myrtle Beach and beyond. One of Tom's proudest moments came when he scored a hole-in-one on Riverside #6 in Erie.

Tom is survived by his beloved wife Carol and son Brian Irwin. Also, his precious dog Brittany. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother-in-law Daniel Schwartz and sister-in-law Patricia Schwartz. He is also survived by brother-in-law Frank Schwartz, sisters-in-law Diana Thies (Sam Rizzo) & Dee Schwartz and many nieces and nephews. A man of quiet strength and enduring loyalty-to his family, country, career-Tom leaves behind a legacy of integrity and warmth. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.

A private service was held in Ocala, Fl.
