Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 3, 2007.
Emma A. Lefever LITITZ Emma A. Lefever, 91, entered into eternal rest Friday, June 1, 2007 at Landis Homes Retirement Community, Lititz, Pa. Born June 7, 1915, in Manor Township, Lancaster, Pa., Emma was the daughter of the late Harry and Laura Ament Kauffman. She was the wife of P. Mylin Lefever who preceded her in death on December 21, 2001, following 67 years of marriage. They were members of the Millport Mennonite Church, Leola, Pa. The Lefevers lived in Lancaster County 21 years, moving to New York State in March 1955 in response to a call to serve the Lord at West Union Mennonite Church. They lived at Andover, New York, for 31 years prior to relocating to Landis Homes in 1986. During that time they were instrumental in helping to plant a church at Independence, New York, where they worshiped and served in various capacities. Emma taught Sunday school and Bible school. She also served as president of the sewing circle. They enjoyed two years of voluntary service under Eastern Mennonite Mission Board in Alberta, Ala., where Emma served as the quality control manager at the Quilting Bee Factory. They were active with Mennonite Disaster Service and traveled frequently to assist with rebuilding and cleanup activities in numerous locations. They are lovingly remembered by their New York friends and neighbors for their gifts of produce from "Dad's" garden along with their many friendly and encouraging visits. At Landis Homes, Emma volunteered in the mail room. She also participated in the crafts department where she enjoyed ceramics, creating many beautiful pieces that are now cherished by her extended family. She also loved to crochet and knit, producing many keepsake pieces for her family and friends. Emma will be lovingly missed by her five children, B. Pauline Rohrer, wife of Nelson, Quarryville, Pa., Parke M. Lefever, husband of Charlotte, Mount Joy, Pa., Carol J. Lewis, wife of Larry, Rexville, N.Y., Harold E. Lefever, husband of Joyce, Waterbury, Conn., L. Joanne Lefever, Lebanon, Pa.; also by 38 grandchildren, 137 greatgrandchildren; and 29 greatgreat-grandchildren; and a brother, Charles Kauffman, husband of Rose, Mountville, Pa. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond, John and Paul Kauffman; a grandson, Kenneth Lewis; and six great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral at Millport Mennonite Church, 820 Log Cabin Road, Leola, Pa., on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Friends may also call at the Landis Homes West Bethany Chapel, 1001 East Oregon Road, Lititz, Pa., on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church on Wednesday. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125; or, Millport Mennonite Church Youth Missions Fund, 820 Log Cabin Road, Leola, PA 17540; or, Landis Homes Caring Fund, 1001 East Oregon Road, Lititz, PA 17543.
