r Enman was my 6th grade teacher. He was so cool! I always remembered the flirting going on between him and a certain pretty young teacher named Miss Konopka. You two didn’t know we students noticed it! He was a great teacher. I saw him years later when he was visiting one of my patients when I was a student nurse at St Vincent’s Hospital. I was so intimidated but I remember his big smile as he looked at me with pride. I’m so sorry for your loss. Such a good man!

My condolences to the family. Let me add my recollections: I was in Mr. Enman's 5th grade class at May St. School--possibly his first--about 1961-2? I remember his 1957 Chevy and I can vividly recall the flirting that went on between MISS Konopka and Mr. Enman. Our 2 classes had some kind of geography contest, too. And I think we competed intensely in kickball.

How lucky all the students were at May Street School and Midland Street to have had the pleasure of such a wonderful teacher as Mr. Enman. As a young student moving up the ranks I like my classmates could not wait to reach the sixth grade so we could have Mr. Enman. Some of us were lucky enough to also have Miss Konopka just before they married!!! He was truly an inspirational teacher who made coming to school each day the best experience ever. I thank him for teaching all of us to love learning. It is with a tear in my eye that I remember those wonderful days . Rest in peace knowing that you taught us more than you may ever know!

So sorry for your loss.
43 years ago Mr Enman was teaching our class at May Street about Caesar and the origin of the phrase "Et Tu Brute". Suddenly he stop paused and told us "You know there was another time in history when this phrase was used. A week or so before that tragic day Brutis had bought donuts for the entire Senate and when he went to get one there were none left so he asked Caesar how many he had eaten?" After doubling over he realized he was the only one laughing and spent the next 15 minutes trying to convince us that, that was a really great joke.
Needless to say, I never forgot the phase or the teacher.
God's Speed Mr Enman :(

My thoughts and prayers are with all the Enman Family and friends. I was most blessed to have Wally Enman for 6th grade at May St. School. He was an amazing teacher in the classroom, the gym and schoolyard and responsible for so many great memories. I've told my kids about playing floor hockey against his alter-ego Wally "The Cat" Enman. I hope your memories offer you comfort .

I will always miss Wally's great sense of humor! I even urged him to write a column for the T&G. I treasured his emails, because they made me smile. Rest in peace, my old friend. You will be missed.

I remember when we would have indoor recess in the gym at May Street. No matter what we would do to Mr. Enman to make him miss a foul shot.....he would stand at that foul line and make shot after shot after shot!!
