Wallace E. Flint

Flint, Wallace E. POESTENKILL Wallace E. Flint, 86, of Plank Rd., Averill Park, died on Sunday, July, 18, 2010 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy after a short illness. A lifelong resident of East Poestenkill, Wallace was the son of the late Delton H. and Carrie B. Horton Flint. Wallace attended grammar school at District #5 in East Poestenkill, was a graduate of Troy High School class of 1938 and was a graduate of Troy Business College. Wallace worked for R.P.I. until he entered the Air Force in February 1943, serving in the India Burma and China Theaters until his discharge in November 1945. Upon his return from the service, he continued to work for R.P.I. until June 1948 when he left to work at Bendix Corporation in Green Island in the manufacturing office until his retirement in September 1980 after 32 years as an executive secretary. Wallace was a member of the First Baptist Church of East Poestenkill and was the church organist for 50 years. He was a member of the Sullivan-Jones VFW Post # 7466 in Poestenkill, the Upstate NY Chapter of Myasthenia Gravis Foundation and the Poestenkill Senior Citizens. Wallace volunteered at Evergreen Commons, playing the organ at monthly church services for over 30 years. Wallace was the brother of the late Eva, Irene, Elwin and Floyd Flint, Marion Legenbauer and Elizabeth Wager. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Hilda A. Yerdon Flint; his daughters, Wanda J. (Joseph) Sharp of Poestenkill and Cheryl A. (Lloyd Fox) Flint of Averill Park; and his grandaughter, Lydia A. Sharp. Funeral service Wednesday, 2 p.m. at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel, 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake, Averill Park. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the funeral chapel on Tuesday 4-8 p.m. Interment, Brook-side Cemetery, Barbersville. If desired, donations in memory of Wallace E.
