Rest in peace Walt. I have many memories of Walt's calls to us in St Paul, often straightening us out in tax business matters with excellent humor salted with some good natured gruffiness. And he could give great personal advice too. Before the birth of my daughter, he called in quite a few classic Scandinavian suggestions for names knowing my Irish wife would ignore them. Walt will surely be missed.

I am saddened to hear of Walter's passing. He was such a good man and a teacher to me in my start with the Dept of Revenue. He was truly my idol when we worked together.
He had the smile of Kojak and the sense of humor and wit to match. I am glad he had 14 years of retirement with Lynette. He was so thrilled to go to his land and retire with the early retirement incentive he recd from the state in 1992.
I always enjoyed being around him during and after work. It was never a dull moment when he was around. He always had time for a cup of coffee.
It was so hard to see him carrying the oxygen bottle around with him, but he never complained about it and never lost his smile. I'm glad it didn't burden him too much.
He was truly one in a million.
My deepest sympathy to his family. He will be missed but you had him for a long time and he always lived life to the fullest.

We are saddened by the news of Wally's death though I know that after his struggle he is in a better place and reunited with those there. We are so glad we had our Bloom/Youngdahl cousin gathering in 2003! Yes, his humor, wit and crispness in quips were his style along with that twinkle in his eye and wonderful smile. Our condolences and love, Betty and Fred Paschal

To the Bloom family: Walter and I shared an office in Duluth for my two years in that office. He was a very wonderful person. His quick wit and sage advise left a lasting impression on me. He truly made a difference in the lives of those who knew him. I continue to pass on bits of his wisdom to those that are just beginning their careers with the Department of Reveue. I am sorry for your loss.

To Walter's family: Walter was wonderful person, inside and out. As a HS classmate, I am very proud of what he accomplished in his life. May God Bless you in his memory. Sonja
