Walter C. Comer, Jr.
MYRTLE BEACH -- Mr. Comer, died Tuesday, May 11, 2004. He was born December 18, 1925 in Bennettsville, SC, a son of the late Walter C. and Alyce P. Comer. he was also preceded in death by his sister, Katherine Comer Pinson.
He was a graduate of NC State University and served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. Mr. Comer was in the textile dyeing and finishing business until 1972. He finished his career in the insurance and investment industry and retired in 1994.
He is survived by his son, Walter C. Comer, III and wife, Angie and their children, Martin and Anna of Charlotte, NC; a daughter, Catherine Comer Lilley and husband, Jim and their children, Paul, Sam, and Cate of Rocky Mount, NC; a son, Michael Paul Comer, and wife, Tracey and their daughter, Elizabeth of Greensboro, NC; and a daughter, Elizabeth Comer Greenhalgh and husband, Dr. Skott Greenhalgh and their children, Ellison and Nate of Philadelphia, PA.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 21, 2004 at 11 a.m. in The Memorial Chapel at First Presbyterian Church in Greensboro, NC.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058-5216.
