Dear Alice and family,
I would like you all to know of my heartfelt prayers for your comfort and my sincere appreciation for you all. The funeral was a wonderful celebration of Bishop Walt Gibson's life, generosity, energy, intelligence, caring and family. Most certainly his witness of our Lord and Savior was appropriately evident. He touched so many lives with his humility and love in approaching those of us in awe of his great spirit.
I know he is still very busy, crossing paths and adding energy to the many other "noble and great ones" where he is now. He is still doing a great work!
My Love and Respect to you all!

Dear Alice and Family,
Pete and I were saddened to hear of the Walt's passing and wished we could attend his Funeral.
Pete looked forward to their long talks and loved to learn about all the mysteries of science. He was the best Home Teacher ever and would drive all the way to our home in Menands in his old klunkers just to bring each of us birthday presents and cards. He was a true Saint and a gentle soul, and a humble follower of Christ.
Just know that our thoughts and prayers will be with you at this time, for all the "firsts" and always.

Dear Alice and family:
I have fond memories of Dr. Gibson. He was very instrumental in my pursuit of my Ph.D. degree and I can honestly say that if it was not for Dr. Gibson, I would not have gotten/graduated with my Ph.D.; I would not be the woman I am right now with a great career and positive outlook in life. I will greatly miss him. When I am in town I might stop by to say hello.
Love you all, Cisca

Alice and family --
I have many fond memories of Walt during our time at Bell Labs in the 1970s. He always had an interesting story to tell, and was unfailingly generous with his scientific ideas and with giving credit to others. I am only sorry that we have not been in touch recently. Know that I am thinking of you all.

Our fondest memories of Walter are those of which we shared in a wonderful weekend with his family after graciously accepting his generous invitation to be a guest at his humble home....We had a grand tour of the house and property and he showed us his many ongoing projects for Alice, his kids and grandkids....We were highly impressed with Walter....The Gibson family made us feel welcome and the time just flew by....We called our weekend " A day at Walter's Mountain".
Our deepest sympathy to Alice and her family.

Mary and I were very saddened to hear of Walts passing. We knew that he was fighting valiantly to alleviate the disease that was afflicting him. He was a High School classmate of Mary and he was my debate companion while we were in BAC 1950-51. He was a great man with a briliiant intellect and the world has suffered a great loss. May the Lord ever bless you all in dealing with your loss and with a sure knowledge of Walts eternal life.
With our sincere sympathy,
Dr and Mrs John C. Brown

Dave,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. A few years ago, Peggy and I were traveling to Corning, NY and stopped by XOS for the day. Walter spent many hours with us talking about new instrumentation and the future in x-ray technology. Time almost became suspended during our conversation. The lunch hour passed by without a moments notice. I think the best most creative days are ones where time becomes irrelevant. Peggy and I felt that spending the day with Walter on our way to Corning was one of those days. Please accept our deepest sympathy.

Dave,
Your dad was a terrific person who achieved many things in his life. I enjoyed dealing with you and your dad when your company was first getting started. His honesty made it a pleasure to do business.

Our hearts and thoughts are with the Gibson family. What a wonderful man. We first met Walter last fall as he came out to SUU with his son and shared lunch with the College of Science. We all listened in wonder as he discussed his research and time spent at Bell Labs in the "glory days". It was also a joy to listen to him discuss his family. More than once an eye-roll came from his son as Walter told an embarrassing story about his kids. It was a privilege to meet Walter and I pray your family will find comfort in each other.
