Walter Emmett Hawkins Jr.

In 1981 right after I graduated college I worked for Walter Hawkins. I had a real estate license and the timing was just right and they ended up helping me help my parents to purchase a beautiful home on Millicent Way not far from the office. Walter, Betty Lou and Mr. Billy Glassell were wonderfully tolerant of me.

I have great memories from those times and deeply appreciate them.

Everybody in real estate loved Betty Lou and Walter.

Walter Hawkins was where I began selling real estate. He was the very best person to ever learn from. He was so wonderful to work for and was always there to listen, give you praise and take your side. Very few times did he not have a smile on his face and always such a true southern gentleman. Walter, you will be missed by so much by many but the home where you are going will be the perfect home, one that real estate here could never find. You'll always have a special place in my heart. He was extremely proud to be the receipient of his Military Veterans REALTOR pin at NWLAR in 2011; he wore his WWII bomber uniform. I'm proud to have had the opportunity to meet Walter. Hawkins.

The Final Salute

Brothers in Arms, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged Hand Salutes as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This Hand Salute is the last that we shall render to Walter E Hawkins, Jr. our Brother-in-Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Walter. And to Walter it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country during WW-II while serving as a bomber gunner and radio operator in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Walter, we commend you for your honorable service. You are a true patriot, who served with honor and distinction. You upheld the finest qualities of an American patriot warrior: courage, commitment, generosity, sacrifice, love and devotion to family and country. You were a true friend. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at Ease. Rest in Peace.
