Walter Joseph Lange

Walter Joseph Lange had a good run. He finished that run peacefully on January 22, 2024, alongside the Floridian coast where he was at home in recent years. He leaves a legacy of all those who loved him, some he leaves behind and some he has gone to join. Those of us he leaves behind celebrate and are comforted by the fullness of his life and our parts in it. Those he has joined will welcome the warmth of his love and his dry (and corny) wit.

Born in 1938, he was a devotee of the 1950's and early 60's Americana. He treasured the period when he grew into manhood, met and married his lifelong love Monica Jardine Lange, and started to build his life and family of 7 children. It was also during this time that he started his career as a journeyman electrician with Local #98 in Philadelphia.

A true tradesman, he took pride in the quality of his work and in the buildings and manufacturing facilities he helped to build. Outside of his professional employment, his strong hands and strong mind were skilled in many trades. He could fix anything. He lived his life with a list of wide-ranging projects catalogued mostly on letter envelopes (although there were always a few undocumented items that were on "The List").

He loved to travel, whether it was touring the U.S. with a Winnebago full of kids or traveling Europe with Monica. He enjoyed the food, beer, and culture of his German ancestry, as well as the beauty, warmth, and history of Italy.

In recent years he cherished spending time with his 9 grandchildren, especially at the beach in Florida or Virginia.

Rest in peace Daddy. Your list is complete.
