Anita: I was shocked and saddened to learn of Walt's death. I believe we met once many years ago as a small group of us came to your house to look at Walt's drum corps memorabilia. We called him "Waldo" then and we enjoyed great times in our youth. He will be missed by many, especially you and the children. I pray that Walt's spirit is marching with the Lord now and that all of you receive special love and support to comfort you in the days ahead.

West End, Junior High and High School, Elementary Band, Junior High Band, High School Band, Drum Corps, Scouts, School in Pittsburgh...and all the times since that our lives have crossed. Walt Lorek was and still is a consistently wonderful person to count as a close friend and contemporary. My world is a better place to live because of these memories. I can only hope that the world's of his family and other close friends honor his gain instead of our loss. That is the only way I can deal with this news. My prayers and condolences are with Anita, the kids, and the rest of us. There is a drum line somewhere that just gained a heck of a guy.

So saddened to see the news of Walt's passing....I was only a customer at the Strongstown Emporium and just talked with him at the herb fest at the Dillweed earlier this year...
Walt was a great conversationalist and had an inquisitive mind..I loved the castle house...Walt lived a full life and I am sure that he will be missed by family and friends...and acquaintances like me...

Anita..My parents and Walt's were very close friends...Through my Aunt Helen (Lorek) Murawsky (who also just recently passed)his parents and mine made a strong connection for many years. Kristie and I would like to send our deepest condolences to you and your family. I had the pleasure of working with Walt as Rick and I were working on our baseball facilities in Richland and Altoona.

My Mom just told me the news of a dear friend, Walt. I'm saddened by his passing. I felt something good was going to happen and I prayed for such a miracle. I hope he didn't have to endure a lot of pain. Even though we didn't cross paths much it was always a pleasant time when we did. I know he'll be missed by those of us who had the great joy of knowing him. My heart is a little more hollow with his passing.
