I met Walter in 2005, when we both served on a citizen committee for the Roslindale Rezoning event. Walter was committed to the community, and offered insight & wisdom to the process. He and his family were among the people displaced when the city and state bulldozed the vibrant West End neighborhood; an event which deeply affected he and his family. Throughout his life, Walter continually valued community and participated as he could; thank you Walter, you truly helped!

The memories i have of my cousin Walter are of such a happy time in my life and not until recently did i realize that this happiness was the result of having such GREAT relatives as my cousins Walter and Maryanne(and of course their mother Grace(the greatest person i have ever known. I have often thought...if only CBS or NBC, heck or even Fox could have a tv show called The Michaliks..it would make you laugh, have you wanting to see more of them and most definitely teach you how to be a "really good" person. Maybe to some that doesnt sound like much, But to me it was a privilege just to visit with them on Knoll St. Generosity, Patience Sincerety and most of all the abiliy to find humor in everything.( Laughing til your stomach hurt)...i am so greatful for all the wonderful memories that Walter and his family gave to me. I will always have much love for you all.... cousin Shelly

Dear Anne -
So sorry to hear of Walter's passing - my sympathies to you and Coley. It's so difficult to watch a loved one struggle with serious health issues that you are helpless to change...He's at peace now, thank goodness. May knowing that bring you comfort, and some peace as well.
Your pal,
Leslie

Anne and Coley, please accept my deepest heartfelt condolences. I told Coley today that his Dad was one of the smartest people I ever knew. I too enjoyed knowing and working with him all those years at BPHC. When he participated in any endeavor, you could count on him to always do his "home work" and be the most knowlegable on the subject at the next meeting. He was compassionate and caring. I learned so much from him. He will be missed by many.

Anne,
I'm so sorry for your loss. I had the good fortune to work with Walter at the BPHC for many years and my life was better for that experience. Know that he touched many and will be missed. My thoughts and sympathies are with you and the family in this sad time.

Ann and Coley my sincere condolences to you and the family. Walter will be missed. He would always light up when he talked about you and Coley. Working with Walter for ten years, I am very thankful for his detailed and articulated work ethics. He pushed me and my buttons to be somewhat like him in my job. He wanted me to learn as much as I could as long as we were together. He loved being out in the "Community" helping others. He would help anybody, but in a long round-about way. There was always a story behing what he was teaching. Again, thank you for sharing him with me. God Bless. S. Morrison (BPHC)
