My deepest condolences goes out to Teresa, Gustavo, Claudio and Carlo!

Walter, as many people before me said you were a friendly giant who had a great smile, showed kindness to everyone and had style. You will be sadly missed but you did leave us with great memories that will live forever and that will help us to move on.

From the Toronto trips " Pjamean" days, with your brother Caudio to the Mnt Tremblant golf trips (driving your Ducati motorbike with only a back pack..in there
a special treat for all of us). Then the next morning making time to meet your parents for brunch at the Village. To the fashion tip you gave me last year was which I still use today "keep the shirt out".

From the last email you sent to me saying "give me time" now you can take all the time you need and rest in peace. To the last words you said to me at the hospital when I said "I will see you again" and you said "you better" and I will one day! God Bless you Walter!

Gail my sympathies also goes out to you too and thank-you both for coming to my bd party in the market in Jan. It was nice to finally meet you.

To Mr. and Mrs. Mion, Claudio, Carlo and my dear friend, Gail...

I've known Walter for almost twenty years, I'd say. We met through business, and over the years became friends.

In business, Walter was always such a pleasure to work with. He clearly understood the concept of customer service, and always went beyond the call to ensure satisfaction. We shared a similar work ethic, and I could always count on him answering the phone well into the evening, long after everyone else had gone home.

Those were the times when we had our personal chats, getting updates on our lives. It became kind of a shtick between us - "So, are you seeing anybody?" "No, not at the moment." "Still haven't met your Mom, eh Wally?!" Ha! Ha! (By the way, he hated being called Wally which was all the more reason to do it!).

Over the years we participated in various social gatherings. The golf games. The hockey games. The dinners. Once Walter invited me to play in a ball tournament with his team. What a laugh that was. We were completely ill equipped, totally inexperienced and most lacking in skill! The other teams just hammered us! But I'll never forget it and still have our team's ball shirt as a souvenir.

I am lucky enough to have a very special "memento" of Walter, and his name is Jackson. No, it's not his secret offspring - it's his cat!! Walter inherited a cat when he lived on Richardson Side Road. Clearly not familiar with parenting the little furry darlings, before he knew it, Cat had Baby Cat. One day Mommy Cat ran away, and Baby Cat was left alone. Upon discovering my love of kitties, Walter seized the moment and wondered aloud if I might be interested in taking this little bundle off his hands. I did, and Jackson is peacefully sleeping next to me as I type.

I often look at Jackson and remember where he came from, and a smile always comes to my lips. Because that's what Walter did - he brought smiles to everyone he met. He was a gentle, happy, sweet man who embraced life to the fullest. I will miss hearing his cheerful voice on the phone, our big hugs whenever we meet, our once a year slow dance at the Fall Dinner Dance, his lovely smile. It is hard to believe he has moved on. But he will forever live here in our hearts.
