Walt Palmer and Ron Peters hired me at rock island refinery in 1988. The next 5 years I worked part time in the refinery. Those 5 years were very good for my full time firefighter career. I most likely learned more in those 5 years than any other time in my career. I owe a debt of gratitude to Walt and Ron for that opportunity. No doubt some of Walt/Ron decisions in safety could may have very saved someone’s life. Hard to sometimes see results in a safety department because you prevent things to happen. That is the goal. A job well done Walt. All I can add to this is a “ atta boy Walt”. May you Rest In Peace.
