Walter Schuda Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 13, 2024.
Walter ("Rich") Schuda was born in Chicago in 1934 to Walter and Viola (Geraskey) Schuda. He graduated from Lemont Township High School in 1952. He served four years in the Air Force at Langley AFB, VA where he met the love of his life, Frances McElrath. They were married in 1956 and settled in Lemont, IL.

Walter proudly served for 36 years as a skilled tool & die maker building locomotives for the Electro-Motive Division of General Motors in LaGrange, IL, and he retired in 1989. In 2004, he and Frances relocated to Folsom, CA.

Walter was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan and he was listening to a Cubs game when he peacefully passed away in Fair Oaks, CA.

Walter is survived by his loving spouse, Frances, three wonderful children (Kevin, Steve, and Lynn) and five amazing grandchildren (Scott, Kurt, Ellie, Helen, and Collin).

Walter's life will be celebrated privately. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Cubs Charities (https://www.mlb.com/cubs/community/cubs-charities/donate).

Rich, I will definitely miss our long distance conversations we engaged in ever few months. We would go down memory lane..the Bears games with Uncle Andrew, the Chicago Cubs, and politics! But mostly the information you shared about our family, the Schudas will be forever valuable to me. You will be missed.
