My name is Jane and I am a nursing instructor. I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Walter at SMMC and I was impressed with his kindness and enlightened by his stories about fishing up north. Whenever I would come into his room with my student, I would rub his arm and he would say
" Angels of mercy". The short amount of time I spent with him, his kindness and warmth made an impact in my life. I am sorry for your loss. May God give you strength during these difficult times.

Dear Gary, Wendy and family, We are sorry for the loss of your father (and father-in-law). The gift of his life is that God gave him 93 years with you. The obituary in the Sheboygan Press was extensive and very interesting. I would like to say thank you to Walter for serving and protecting our country.

Hello Monica.
Back in1969 i was not even aware of your name... At that time it was just considered respectful to refer to a friends mothers name as Mrs Schkantz and his fathers as Mr Schukantz. As luck would have it, sometime during that year your son Gary and i crossed paths.. Became friends... And to this day, 45 years later that friendship is still strong. My thanks to you and your husband Walter for welcoming me into your home at that time and helping that chance meeting to develope into that friendship. Gary is a man of tremendous character and i am sure that didn't happen completly on its own without a loving dose of what they casually refer to today as parenting.. Back then i guess it was just looked upon raising your children. I suppose at some time he will read this which is completely fine. Men are just not typically good at getting past their man stuff and just telliing each other things like that.
That being said, please know that i am sorry for your loss. For mere weeks or 93 years our time on earth is brief... how we choose to use the time we are given is the important part and from my recollection and judging from the children you send forward, Walter spent his well.
Take care and God bless you.
