Walt was a coach even in retirement -- he coached bowlers. He always was available to recommend techniques and tricks to better bowling. Walt was a legend among bowlers, making near-impossible spares along with his frequent strikes. He never criticized a bowler, always emphasizing a better way -- positive, and supportive. Walt was a good storyteller and regaled us with his baseball stories and players who he had played with or coached. Walt was politically aware and would discuss local, state and national politics with a fresh and inspiring discussion. An inspiring friend who will be missed by many.

Hi, I was so sorry to hear about your Mom and your Dad. We lived in Leavenworth at the same time as your parents. My Dad was a teacher and coach also. Harley Hanan and my Mom was Ginger Hanan. They were friends with your parents. My Dad spoke highly of your Dad through the years, because of their friendship and they coached side by side in Leavenworth. I think they lost touch as it sometimes happens in life. It sounds like your parents lived a very good life. Thank you for posting your Dad´s obituary in the Wenatchee paper also.
Sincerely,

Judi Hanan

Mr. Seiler was my 7th grade social studies teacher in Omak. He always stressed that we needed to start being responsible for ourselves because our parents weren´t always going to support us. He would say, "One day you´ll walk out of the house and hear your dinner plate break on the floor."
