You were always an uncle to me and a hilarious, generous guy. I remember all the goofy stuff you used to buy like go karts and pinball machines. I'll never forget playing Joe and Mac with little Walt on your old school big screen TV. You always treated me like part of the family, respected and loved my family, and opened up your home to us. You will be greatly missed. I always loved randomly running into you at Rice's or the hospital. Back when I had hair, you'd greet every haircut with What, did you lose a bet? I'll miss your Mac and cheese and beans and just know you were always family. Rest easy, Big Walt.

Dear Walter,I am sure your dad is together with you in heaven, and now Earl is there with both of you. I know you both will take good care of him for us. We did not want him to leave us but we know he will not be in pain
Any more, we will miss him forever. I remember the last time we spoke, you said if I ever need your help just call, that was Walter always willing to help. We will all miss you, Rest In Peace

How do I say goodbye to someone I have known my whole life? We were so sad to hear of the passing of Walter. We had spent many holidays together and I have lots of great memories of our families spending time together. Walter had a big heart of gold and would help anyone who needed him. Walter was funny, sarcastic and just a lot of fun to be around. He was not just a family friend he was more like a cousin to everyone in my family. Thanksgiving was one of those special holidays that was always a ton of fun celebrating at his house with Walter's family Walt, Rose and Gail. We love you and we will always miss you! Rest In Peace
Love you

Walter was like a cousin to me. Our family celebrated many happy holidays together. Those are some of my absolute best memories. Walt, Rose, Gail and Walter were family to us. We can not express how very sad we are that he is no longer with us. I remember seeing him in September at Gail and Ed's shore house. We had a wonderful dinner prepared by Gail and got a chance to catch up. We did not see each other that often but we were always able to pick up where we left off. He walked mom, dad and I out to the car. He helped with getting dad into the car and told my mom if you ever need anything Joan you let me know. That is who Walter was...always had a big heart willing to help others. Now my dad just passed on Sunday and will have a warm welcome from Walt and Walter as he enters into heaven. Now we have two more angels that are going to look over us from above. Until we all meet again...give my dad a big hug and kiss from me Walter if you would!!
Love you,
Chuck, Donna, Wyatt and Mackenzie

To the Ulmer Family: My condolences on your loss. Please know I am remembering your father/loved one fondly in my prayers. Walt never hesitated to sign up to drive the van for me when I organized volunteer events for Abington Hospital employees. He would even come in on his day off to participate. Our favorite was PhilAbundance. We would jokingly argue about the best way to get to South Philly from Abington in rush hour traffic. He would always take Broad St because the lights were synchronized. I would say, Walt we're going to be late. He would laugh & respond, Don't worry, Sabrina, I'm going to get you there safely. And he did, each & every time!! He will be missed. RIP

Walt I always knew you were in the department when I heard those keys! Typically heard your massive ring of keys before even seeing your face. Thanks for your odd humor and for all those times you unlocked the office for me. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. Rest well Walt!

I would like to take this time to send my condolences to Walts family and friends. I have known Walt for about 15 years working at Abington hospital. Walt always made me feel like family. We would often talk about the gig and looking forward to the weekend ahead. I've shared so many laughs with Walt and that's what I will miss the most. Rest in paradise Walt

So many memories growing up with Little Walt. My first concert ever (yes it was Bruce), deer hunting with our fathers, Sunday dinner at the Ulmer's, and on and on. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing and will be missed by so many. Rest In Peace Little Walt and say hi to Big Walt for us.
