While I never really knew Walt, I have been close friends with his son Ray for 30 years. When Ray was really sick a few years ago, many of us were sharing prayers and encouragement through social media. Through that Walt and I became friends on Facebook. After Ray regained his health, Walt reached out to me with a phone call, just wanting to thank me for being a good friend to Ray. We spent about 30-45 minutes on the phone just having a very nice conversation. Walt was so nice and inviting. With me living in Cincinnati, Walt invited me to stop in anytime I was in South Carolina, and he would take me to lunch at one of his favorite spots, "The Codfather Fish and Chips". I'm sad that I never made it to South Carolina to meet Walt in person and be able to talk and share a meal together. But, I am so thankful and blessed to have had that time with him over the phone. Knowing Ray for so long, along with my conversation with Walt, I know he was a great man of character and all things good in a person. I know that his example and influence has touched many people and through them will travel on through generations to come. Thank you so much Lord for Walt and his family and the great blessings brought to me in my life through them. God bless the Weidmann family and all who knew Walt.

I want to express my sincere condolences to you Hannalore and family. Walt was my mentor when I first joined AAL. I really enjoyed our time together and he was great teacher and a good man. God's peace.

We met Walt and Hanni, who were members of the Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, where my Mom, Fay, and I attended. Somehow our families bonded and laughter and stories were always shared, as well as parties and genuine fellowship.
Walt´s gift to us was that we all became good friends for life. He will be deeply missed at our gatherings, but will forever be in our hearts and I know his stories will still be shared. James and I are blessed to have spent time with Hanni and Walt and so grateful to have known him. I´m sure he knows that we will continue to spend time with Hanni and his wonderful family.
Who knows, it may be "Party Time" in heaven and oh the stories and laughter that will be shared between Walt, Mom Fay and all of our heavenly loved ones!
Walter, you´re one in a million and are sorely missed ! Until we meet again dear friend, rest easy and keep smiling.
