In memory of
1950 - 2015
Mike Saunders

I just learned of Ward's passing and was saddened to hear it. He and I were roommates in college for a couple of years. We shared a number of interests and had several mutual friends. We had some memorable and enjoyable experiences and adventures together. I always appreciated his laugh, his wit, and his genuine common sense.
For some reason Ward and I didn't do a very good job of keeping in touch after graduating, although we usually knew where the other was at any given time. I had the opportunity to travel to Houston last year and called Ward. We met one evening and took an extended trip down memory lane. It was a marvelous time for me and I believe he enjoyed it as well.
My sincere condolences go out to Dora and Ward's entire family. He will be missed.

I was sorry to read in the Fort Hays State University magazine that Ward had passed away. Ward was one of my husband's best friends in Goodland, KS in High School and College. I got to know Ward through my husband, Charles W Halm, when we were all at college at FHSU. Ward & I graduated the same year. We had some fun times and lots of memories to cherish. May God's comforting arms wrap you up in Love.

Although I didn't know my cousin as an adult, I do have memories as a teenager of Ward's smile and laugh. I am grateful for those memories.
I am also grateful that my sister, Paula, and her family got to know Ward. She has shared with me some of the nice times she had spent with our cousin.
Dora and family, Aunt Gracia, Paul & Louesa, heartfelt sympathies to you from Ed, Brad & me.

Ward was my cousin and was one of the most generous, loving, genuine, and fun-loving people I have known. He had a fairly dry sense of humor that could be mistaken for seriousness. But that smile, like his brother John's, was mischief from the get-go. When he came to Texas, he was so blessed to meet Dora, who was the love of his life. They were truly meant to be together forever. Ward added to his family with Dora's sons, Randy and Adrian, and now had three sons and a daughter, including David and Erica. And so did my family grow with the addition of Dora, Adrian, and Randy.
Ward was also the "connection" between our fathers' and Uncle's families. His visits were meant to solidify us and love, caring and honesty were the emotions that he shared.
Ward will be missed more than he could have imagined by his immediate and extended family. There is a genuine sense of loss and a feeling of being lost with his passing.
You left all of us much too soon, Ward, and no one more so than Dora; in addition, your children, brother and sister and your mother and extended family and friends.
Dora, we will always be family. My heartfelt sympathy and love I extend to you, David and Erica, Randy, Adrian, Paul, Louesa, and Aunt Gracia.
May you rest now, Ward, and may the Lord keep you until such time we are all together again.
"In the meantime, while you wait, if you have a chance, tell my Dad about us and all these grandsons he missed out on! I know your Dad, John, and my Dad will get a kick out of the stories you will no doubt share!"
All my Love,
Paul Maricle
