Warren Thomas Mitchell, 90, of Monteview, died Monday, Aug. 2, at The Gables in Ammon.
He was born June 20, 1920, in Allowee, Okla., to Thomas Mitchell and Bessie Finck Mitchell. He moved to the Mud Lake area with his parents in 1928, where he attended school at Level and graduated from Hamer High School.
He married A. Dorothy Thompson on July 1, 1940, in Pocatello, where he earned a machinist's degree. In 1949, he and Dorothy moved to Monteview, where they farmed starting with one tractor and one plow. He obtained his private pilot's license and enjoyed taking people for airplane rides. He's been active in the community and received numerous awards for community service. He is especially well-known for recycling and donating the proceeds to the West Jefferson Senior Center. He was a talented musician and played in many local dance bands, as well as playing the wedding march for several of his grandchildren's weddings.
He and Dorothy enjoyed traveling in their motor home and made many trips to Alaska as well as 49 other states.
He is survived by his children, Diane of Kamas, Utah, and Brice (Sherrie) of Monteview; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
His was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy; son, Warren Eugene; daughter, Wilma Mitchell Hamilton; son, baby Reed; and a great-grandson, Stetson Mitchell.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 6, at the Community Church of Mud Lake with Pastor Bryan Gomez officiating. The family will visit with friends from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Interment will be in Fielding Memorial Cemetery in Idaho Falls. Donations may be made in Warren's name to the West Jefferson Senior Citizens Center. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.buckmillerhann.com.

We are so sorry to hear about Waren. He was well thought of. He would come to Lidy and get old batteries to recicle. We regret that we will not be able to be at the services but our prayers are with you.
